Celebrity Silhouette cruise ship: where it sails and who it suits

Celebrity Silhouette is a 2011 Solstice-class ship with about 2,902 guests, refitted in 2020. In 2027 it runs one of Celebrity's most varied years: 6- and 8-night Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Bermuda weeks from Cape Liberty, Iceland round trips from Reykjavik and fall Canada and New England cruises from Boston. Book it for a calm, mid-size premium ship.

Book it if

  • You want a 7-night Bermuda cruise from Cape Liberty in May or June 2027, without flying.
  • You want a 7-night Iceland round trip from Reykjavik, or a 12- or 13-night Greenland and Iceland crossing, in summer 2027.
  • You want an 11-night Boston, Maine and Canada cruise in fall 2027 on a mid-size premium ship.

Skip it if

  • You want Edge-class features such as Infinite Verandas or the Magic Carpet; Silhouette is the older design.
  • Your kids want water slides; Silhouette has none.
  • You want a 3-night getaway; almost all its sailings are 6 nights or longer.

Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, built Celebrity Silhouette as the fourth of five Solstice-class ships. It was delivered on July 18, 2011, and christened in Hamburg on July 21, 2011, by Michelle Morgan, president and CEO of Signature Travel Network. At 122,210 gross tons and about 1,047 feet long, it is slightly larger than the first three ships of the class.

In early 2020 Silhouette spent 42 days in dry dock in Cadiz, Spain, as part of Celebrity’s fleet-wide refit program. The work added The Retreat for suite guests, with a 24-hour lounge and a sundeck, plus two Sunset Suites and four inside cabins. Craft Social opened as a new bar, and the Lawn Club, Sunset Bar and every cabin were refreshed. The ship now sails with Starlink internet.

Where does Celebrity Silhouette sail in 2026–2027?

Celebrity Silhouette spends winter on 6- and 8-night Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, then moves north in spring 2027. It sails Bermuda from Cape Liberty in May and June, Iceland from Reykjavik in July and August, and Canada and New England from Boston in September and October, before returning to Florida for winter.

  • Fall 2026 to April 2027: Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale. 8-night Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire cruises alternate with 6-night trips to Grand Cayman, Mexico and the Bahamas or to Mexico and Honduras. See our Caribbean cruise guide.
  • May and June 2027: Bermuda from Cape Liberty. Seven 7-night round trips from Bayonne, New Jersey. Our New York cruise port guide covers the terminal, and the Bermuda cruise guide compares the lines.
  • Late June 2027: across the North Atlantic. A 13-night Greenland and Iceland cruise from Cape Liberty takes the ship to Reykjavik.
  • July and August 2027: Iceland. 7-night Iceland Intensive round trips from Reykjavik, then a 12-night Greenland and Iceland cruise in late August. Our Northern Europe cruise guide explains the Iceland routes.

  • Winter 2027–28: back in Fort Lauderdale for 4- to 11-night cruises, mostly 6-night Key West, Grand Cayman and Bahamas trips and 8-night ABC islands cruises, plus an 11-night Southern Caribbean holiday sailing.

Is a Celebrity Silhouette cruise good for Bermuda?

Yes, if you live in the Northeast and want a premium ship. Silhouette sails 7-night round trips from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, in May and June 2027, so you can drive to the port instead of flying. The season is short: seven departures in all, so pick your week early.

Royal Caribbean and Norwegian sail Bermuda from the New York area too, with bigger ships and more activities for kids. Silhouette is the quieter, adult-leaning choice. For a longer Northeast trip on the same ship, the fall Boston, Maine and Canada cruises are 11 nights; our Canada and New England cruise guide compares them.

Who it suits

Couples and older travelers. Silhouette is built around restaurants, bars, the spa and quiet outdoor space rather than rides.

Northeast travelers who don’t want to fly. In 2027 it has Bermuda cruises from New Jersey and Canada and New England cruises from Boston.

Travelers who want somewhere different. Its Iceland round trips from Reykjavik and the Greenland crossings reach places few big ships cover.

Suite travelers. Since 2020, suite guests get The Retreat, with a private lounge open around the clock and a sundeck.

Who should look elsewhere: families with young children who want slides and big attractions, and anyone who wants Celebrity’s newest venues. Ships such as Celebrity Beyond have more of those. See our couples cruise guide for other adult-leaning options.

What is inside Celebrity Silhouette?

  • The Lawn Club: real grass on the top deck, with the Lawn Club Grill.
  • The Retreat: the suite area added in 2020, with a 24-hour lounge and a sundeck.
  • Craft Social: a casual bar with craft beers on tap, added in 2020.
  • Passport Bar and the Sunset Bar, both refreshed in the refit.
  • Chef’s Table by Chef Daniel Boulud, and The Spa, which has new treatment rooms.

Celebrity Silhouette cabins: which to pick and which to avoid

Most rooms are verandas, alongside oceanviews, insides, AquaClass and Concierge Class rooms, and suites, including the Sunset Suites added in 2020.

Pick:

  • Midship cabins on Decks 8 to 10 for the best mix of quiet and stability.
  • Aft-facing cabins if you want a wake view, and don’t mind some vibration and wind.
  • Lower midship cabins if you get seasick; they move least.

Avoid or think twice:

  • Partial-view verandas on Deck 6, where lifeboats can block part of the view. Check the category says “Partial View” before you pay a full veranda fare.
  • Cabins directly under the pool deck or the buffet, where loungers, carts and foot traffic start early.
  • Cabins next to elevator banks, which see foot traffic late into the night.
  • One half of a connecting pair, since the connecting door lets noise through.
  • Forward cabins if you’re prone to seasickness.

Dining and activities

The main dining room, the Oceanview Café buffet and casual spots are included; some specialty restaurants carry a charge. Drinks, Wi-Fi and crew tips are extra unless you book an All Included fare. Our Celebrity line guide explains the fares.

Days at sea center on the pool deck, the Lawn Club and the spa; evenings on the theater and the bars. For how Celebrity compares with its rivals, see Celebrity vs Royal Caribbean and our Celebrity review.

Sister ships

Silhouette is the fourth of five Solstice-class ships. Celebrity Solstice (2008), Celebrity Equinox (2009) and Celebrity Eclipse (2010) came before it, and Celebrity Reflection (2012) followed. All five have the Lawn Club and a similar layout.
