The Cruising Insider

Privacy policy

The Cruising Insider is a reading site: there are no accounts, comments or newsletters. This page explains the little data we do handle, who else handles it, and how to reach us about it.

Analytics

We use Clicky to count page views and see which guides are useful. It runs in cookieless mode: it doesn't set cookies or use local storage, and it doesn't track you across other sites. Clicky records basic visit details such as the pages viewed, the referring site, browser, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use these to understand traffic, not to identify you. Clicky's handling of this data is covered by theClicky privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We don't use that information to identify you.

The contact form

If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, by email. We use them only to reply and to fix anything you report, and we delete messages once they're dealt with, usually within 12 months. We don't add you to any mailing list and we never sell or share your details.

Affiliate links and cookies

Price buttons and "Check price" links go through addresses starting with /go/ and then to a booking partner such as CruiseBound, through the impact.com affiliate network, or sometimes to a cruise line directly. Those sites may set cookies so a booking can be credited to us. We don't receive your personal details from them, only anonymous reports of clicks and bookings. Their own privacy policies apply once you're on their sites. More in ouraffiliate disclosure.

Your choices and rights

The site works with cookies blocked. You can ask us what information we hold about you (in practice, only contact-form messages) or ask us to delete it through the contact form, and we'll respond within 30 days. This applies wherever you live, including California and the EU.

Children

This site is written for adults planning travel. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
