Celebrity Summit cruise ship: who it suits and which cabin to book
Celebrity Summit is the ship to book if you want a calm, mid-size premium ship for Alaska: it carries about 2,200 guests, was fully refurbished in 2019, and sails 7-night Alaska glacier cruises from Vancouver in summer. In winter 2026–27 it sails 7-night Bahamas, Key West and Mexico cruises from Tampa; it's a pleasant ship, not a destination in itself.

Celebrity Summit is the third of Celebrity’s four Millennium-class ships. Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, built it, and it entered service in 2001. In 2019 it was refitted under the Celebrity Revolution program, which brought new cabins, bathrooms, restaurants and a redesigned spa, and added 30 cabins. Celebrity lists it at 2,218 guests, about two-thirds the size of Celebrity Beyond. It now has Starlink internet.
Who it suits
Couples and older travelers who want a calm ship. Summit has fewer venues than the newer Celebrity ships, but also fewer crowds, and it’s easy to find your way around.
First-time Alaska cruisers who want a glacier day. The 2026 Vancouver–Seward one-way sailings include scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier, and the 2027 Vancouver round trips include Dawes Glacier in Endicott Arm. Compare Alaska options in our best cruise lines for Alaska.
Value-minded Celebrity fans. Summit fares usually sit below the Edge-class ships on the same routes, and you still get Celebrity’s service style and dining.
Who should look elsewhere: families with young kids, and anyone who wants the newest design. Celebrity Beyond has far more venues, and our family cruise picks suit children better.

Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid
Pick:
- Midship veranda cabins on a deck with cabins above and below for the least noise and motion.
- Aft-facing cabins for the wake view and larger balconies, warmer on cold-weather sailings. Cabins on the deck above can see down onto some of them.
Avoid or think twice:
- Deck 9 cabins under the busy Deck 10 areas: aft under the terrace, midship near the pool grill, and forward under the fitness center.
- Verandas with a window-cleaning platform outside on Decks 8 and 9. A handful of Concierge and AquaClass cabins are affected, and reports differ on exactly which ones, so check for a “partially obstructed” note before you book.
- Corner Ultra Deluxe Verandas and some Deck 8 balconies with solid steel sides, which block the view when you sit down.
- The first few forward balconies on Deck 9, where the ship’s structure blocks the side view.
Dining and activities
The main dining room and the Oceanview Café buffet are included in the fare. Specialty restaurants cost extra, including Tuscan Grille (Italian steakhouse) and Le Petit Chef, a dinner with animated table projections. Suite guests eat in Luminae.

Entertainment is traditional: theater shows and live music in the bars. In Alaska, the scenery is the main event.
Where Celebrity Summit sails in 2026–2027
Summer 2026: Alaska one way. Summit sails 7-night one-way glacier cruises between Vancouver and Seward (the port for Anchorage), calling at ports such as Ketchikan, Skagway and Icy Strait Point, cruising the Inside Passage and Hubbard Glacier.
Summer 2027: Alaska round trips from Vancouver. The 7-night Dawes Glacier route leaves Vancouver, cruises the Inside Passage and Endicott Arm to Dawes Glacier, calls at Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, and returns to Vancouver. Celebrity’s 2027 Alaska program also uses Seattle and Seward, but the Summit sailings we found all start in Vancouver.

Winter 2026–27: Tampa. Summit sails 7-night round trips from Tampa, Florida. The Key West and Bahamas route has two sea days, then Key West, Bimini and Nassau, and a final sea day back to Tampa. It also has a 7-night Bahamas and Mexico holiday sailing on sale from Tampa.
2027–28: the East Coast and the Caribbean. After a Pacific Coast repositioning from Los Angeles in spring 2027 and the Alaska season, Summit has sailings on sale from Boston to San Juan in autumn 2027, Southern Caribbean round trips from San Juan, short Key West and Bahamas cruises from Fort Lauderdale in early 2028, and Bermuda from Cape Liberty (Bayonne, New Jersey) in spring 2028.
