Celebrity Constellation cruise ship: where it sails and who it suits

Celebrity Constellation is a 2002 Millennium-class ship with about 2,184 guests, one of Celebrity's smallest. In winter 2026–27 it sails 7-night Southern Caribbean cruises from San Juan; in summer 2027 it sails 10- and 11-night Italy and Croatia cruises from Rome and Ravenna. Book it for the itinerary and a calmer ship, not for new venues.

Book it if

  • You want a 7-night Southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan between November 2026 and March 2027.
  • You want Italy and Croatia in one trip, on 10- or 11-night cruises from Rome or Ravenna in 2027 or 2028.
  • You prefer a ship of about 2,200 guests over Celebrity's 3,000-guest Edge-class ships.

Skip it if

  • You want the Lawn Club, the Magic Carpet or other features of Celebrity's newer ships.
  • You want a 3- to 5-night trip; nearly all its sailings are 7 nights or longer.
  • You're traveling with young kids who want slides or big attractions.

Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, built Constellation as the fourth and last Millennium-class ship. It was launched on October 31, 2001, and christened on May 12, 2002. It sailed as Constellation until 2007, when it took the Celebrity prefix. Celebrity lists it at 2,184 guests, 90,940 tons and 965 feet long, and Wikipedia gives a crew of 999.

It is about two-thirds the size of Celebrity’s newest ships. Suite guests get The Retreat, with a private restaurant and a lounge open around the clock, and the ship now sails with Starlink internet.

Where does Celebrity Constellation sail in 2026–2027?

Celebrity Constellation spends winter 2026–27 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on 7-night Southern Caribbean round trips from late November to late March. In April 2027 it crosses to Europe and spends May to October on 10-night Italy and Croatia cruises from Civitavecchia (Rome), alternating with 11-night cruises from Ravenna on the Adriatic.

  • November 2026: the crossing. A 15-night Spain and Morocco transatlantic from Civitavecchia brings the ship to San Juan, followed by an 11-night Southern Caribbean Intensive.
  • Late November 2026 to March 2027: San Juan. Weekly 7-night Southern Caribbean round trips, including two holiday sailings over Christmas and New Year. Our San Juan cruise port guide covers the terminals, and our San Juan port guide covers the city.
  • April 2027: a 13-night Spain and Morocco transatlantic from San Juan to Europe.
  • May to October 2027: Italy and Croatia. After a 7-night Italy and French Riviera cruise and a 9-night Italy and Spain cruise from Rome, the ship settles into 10-night round trips from Civitavecchia and 11-night round trips from Ravenna. Our Italy cruise guide compares the ports.
  • November 2027 to April 2028: Tampa. After a 16-night transatlantic, Constellation sails 7-night Key West, Bahamas, Grand Cayman and Mexico cruises from Tampa, Florida. Celebrity announced the Tampa season in November 2025.
  • Summer 2028: back to Italy and Croatia from Rome and Ravenna.

Is Celebrity Constellation good for a Southern Caribbean cruise?

Yes, if you want a calm ship and a lot of islands in one week. Starting in San Juan puts you in the islands on day one, so a 7-night round trip can reach farther south than a week from Florida. The ship is small enough to feel uncrowded on port days, and it has Celebrity’s food and service.

What it lacks is the newer ships’ pool-deck features. If you want those on a Caribbean trip, compare Celebrity Beyond. For the region as a whole, see our Caribbean cruise guide.

Who it suits

Couples and older travelers. Constellation is built around dining, bars, the spa and the theater, with fewer crowds than Celebrity’s bigger ships.

Port-focused travelers. Its Italy and Croatia cruises run 10 or 11 nights, and its Caribbean weeks start in the islands rather than in Florida.

Suite travelers who want value. The Retreat gives suite guests a private restaurant and lounge on a ship that usually prices below Celebrity’s Edge class.

Who should look elsewhere: families with young children, and anyone who wants the newest design. Our family cruise picks suit children better.

What is inside Celebrity Constellation?

  • The Retreat: the suite area, with a private restaurant and a lounge open 24 hours.
  • Chef’s Table by Chef Daniel Boulud, Tuscan Grille and Le Petit Chef, an interactive dinner with animated table projections.
  • Blu, the restaurant for AquaClass guests.
  • The Spa and a fitness center.
  • Starlink internet across the ship.

The main dining room and the Oceanview Café buffet are included; some specialty restaurants carry a charge. Drinks, Wi-Fi and crew tips are extra unless you book an All Included fare. Our Celebrity line guide explains the fares.

Celebrity Constellation cabins: which to pick and which to avoid

Deck 9, the highest cabin deck, holds a mix of suites, AquaClass, Concierge Class, verandas, ocean-view and inside cabins, all sitting under public areas on Deck 10.

Pick:

  • Midship veranda cabins on a deck with cabins above and below, for the least noise and motion.
  • Aft-facing Sunset Verandas for the wake view; their balconies are warmer in cool weather, though cabins above can see down onto part of them.
  • AquaClass if you plan to use the spa and want Blu.

Avoid or think twice:

  • Deck 9 cabins under the busy parts of Deck 10: aft under the terrace, midship under the pool grill and forward under the fitness center.
  • Corner aft verandas with solid steel sides, which block the view when you sit down.
  • The first few forward balconies, where the hull blocks the side view, and indented cabins that look down on the lifeboats.
  • Forward cabins if you’re prone to seasickness.

Sister ships

Constellation’s Millennium-class sisters are Celebrity Millennium (2000), Celebrity Infinity (2001) and Celebrity Summit (2001). Celebrity Infinity sails Greece from Athens in summer 2027, so between them the two cover the eastern Mediterranean and the Adriatic.
