Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, built Infinity as the second of four Millennium-class ships. It was launched on June 9, 2000, made its maiden voyage on March 3, 2001, and was christened in Los Angeles in April 2001, with Solveig Wilhelmsen as sponsor. Celebrity lists it at 2,170 guests, 90,940 tons and 965 feet long; Wikipedia gives a crew of 999.

In January 2024 the ship spent more than two weeks in dry dock. Aft Ultra Deluxe and Family Veranda cabins became Sunset Suites with extra-large balconies, Luminae (the suite restaurant) was expanded, and the old Michael’s Club became The Retreat Lounge. Public rooms got new carpets, furniture and lighting, and the pool deck got new whirlpools.

Where does Celebrity Infinity sail in 2026–2027?

Celebrity Infinity stays in Europe all year. From November to March it sails 12-night round trips from Barcelona to the Canary Islands, Madeira and Morocco. From late March to October it is based in Piraeus (Athens), on 7- to 11-night Greek Isles cruises, some adding Turkey or Croatia.

• November 2026: a 12-night Italy, Croatia and France cruise from Athens to Barcelona.
• November 2026 to March 2027: Barcelona. 12-night Canaries, Spain and Morocco or Madeira, Canaries and Morocco round trips, with a 13-night holiday sailing over Christmas.
• Late March to October 2027: Athens. 10- and 11-night Best of Greece cruises in spring, Greece and Turkey sailings in May and late September, and 7-night Best of Greece or Greece and Croatia cruises every week from late May to August. Our Greece cruise guide compares the islands.

Is Celebrity Infinity good for a Greek Isles cruise?

Yes. It is based in Athens for the whole season, so every Greece cruise starts and ends there, and you don’t spend days getting to the islands from Italy or Spain. At about 2,170 guests it is much smaller than Celebrity’s 3,000-guest Edge-class ships, which helps at busy island ports where you go ashore by tender.

The trade-off is age. It is a 2001 ship with fewer venues than Celebrity’s newest ships, such as Celebrity Ascent, which also sails the eastern Mediterranean. For other lines on these routes, see our Mediterranean cruise guide.

Who it suits

Couples and older travelers. Infinity is built around restaurants, bars, the spa and the theater, with a calm, uncrowded feel.

Port-focused travelers. Greece itineraries put an island in most days, and the winter Canaries trips run 12 nights.

Suite travelers. Since 2024, the aft Sunset Suites come with The Retreat Lounge, butler service and Luminae.

Who should look elsewhere: families with young children and anyone sailing from the US. Our family cruise picks suit children better.

What is inside Celebrity Infinity?

• Chef’s Table by Chef Daniel Boulud, Tuscan Grille and Le Petit Chef, an interactive dinner with animated table projections.
• Blu, the restaurant for AquaClass guests.
• Rendezvous Lounge, the Oceanview Café and The Spa.

Celebrity Infinity cabins: which to pick and which to avoid

Deck 9, the highest cabin deck, holds suites, AquaClass, Concierge Class, verandas, ocean-view and inside cabins, with the aft Sunset Suites and Sunset Verandas at the stern. Every cabin on it sits under public areas on Deck 10.

Pick:

• Midship veranda cabins on a deck with cabins above and below, for the least noise and motion.
• Sunset Suites if you want a big aft balcony and Retreat perks.
• AquaClass if you plan to use the spa and want Blu.

Avoid or think twice:

• Deck 9 cabins under the busy parts of Deck 10: aft under the terrace, midship under the pool grill and forward under the fitness center.
• Corner aft suites and verandas with solid metal sides, which block the view when you sit down.
• The first few forward balconies, where the hull blocks the side view, and indented cabins that look down on the lifeboats.
• Forward cabins if you’re prone to seasickness.

Sister ships

Infinity’s Millennium-class sisters are Celebrity Millennium (2000), Celebrity Summit (2001) and Celebrity Constellation (2002).
