Celebrity Edge cruise ship: where it sails and who it suits
Celebrity Edge is the 2018 ship that started Celebrity's Edge class, with about 2,918 guests. It spends winter 2026–27 in Australia and New Zealand from Sydney, then sails 7-night Alaska round trips from Seattle from May to September 2027, with Hawaii crossings in between. Book it for a modern, adult-leaning ship on a long-haul route.
Book it if
- You want a 7-night Alaska cruise from Seattle with Dawes Glacier, any week from late May to late September 2027 or 2028.
- You want 9- to 14-night cruises to New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef, Tasmania or the South Pacific from Sydney between November and April.
- You'd pay more for an Edge Villa, a suite in The Retreat or an Infinite Veranda room.
Skip it if
- Your kids want water slides or a water park; Edge has neither.
- You want Glacier Bay; the 2027 Alaska route visits Dawes Glacier instead.
- You want a traditional balcony with a separate door; most verandas here are Infinite Verandas.

Where does Celebrity Edge sail in 2026–2027?
Celebrity Edge spends the southern summer in Australia and New Zealand and the northern summer in Alaska, with Hawaii on the crossings between them. Its fourth Australia season runs from Sydney through April 2027, and in summer 2027 it sails 7-night Alaska round trips from Seattle, its fourth year in Alaska.
- Fall 2026: the crossing. Edge left Vancouver on September 18, 2026, on a 10-night cruise to Honolulu, then an 18-night Tahitian Treasures cruise via French Polynesia and New Zealand to Sydney.
- November 2026 to April 2027: Australia and New Zealand. 12-night New Zealand cruises, 10- and 11-night Great Barrier Reef cruises, a 9-night South Australia and Tasmania cruise, a 14-night Fiji and Vanuatu cruise, and New Zealand cruises from Auckland. See our Australia and New Zealand cruise guide.
- April to May 2027: back north. A 17-night Tahitian Treasures cruise from Sydney and an 8-night Hawaii cruise from Honolulu. Our Honolulu cruise guide covers the port.
- May to September 2027: Alaska. One 7-night cruise from Vancouver in mid-May, then 7-night round trips from Seattle every Friday through late September, all with Dawes Glacier.
- October 2027 onward: a 9-night Hawaii cruise from Vancouver and a 17-night Fiji crossing from Honolulu take it back to Sydney for winter 2027–28, and it returns to Seattle for summer 2028. In October 2028 the sailings on sale show it crossing from Vancouver to Tokyo and on to Singapore.

Is a Celebrity Edge Alaska cruise worth it?
Yes, if you want a modern ship and Celebrity’s food on a simple 7-night round trip from Seattle. Edge is the newest and largest of Celebrity’s Alaska ships, and the Rooftop Garden, Infinite Verandas and outward-facing Eden venue all suit glacier days. The trade-offs: no Glacier Bay, and higher fares than Celebrity’s older Alaska ships.
Seattle round trips skip the flight to Vancouver and the one-way airfare home, which keeps the trip simple. If you’d rather sail one way, or want a smaller ship, look at Celebrity Summit. Our Alaska cruise guide and best cruise lines for Alaska compare the routes and lines.
Who it suits
Couples and friends. Edge was designed around adults: restaurants, bars and quiet outdoor space rather than rides. Celebrity counts 29 restaurants, bars and lounges on board.
Long-haul travelers in Australia. Edge sails from Sydney for the whole southern summer, so it suits Americans pairing a cruise with a land trip, and Australians who want a US-style ship.
Suite travelers. The Retreat gives suite guests a private restaurant, sundeck and lounge, and the two-story Edge Villas have their own plunge pools.
Who should look elsewhere: families with young children who want slides and big attractions, and anyone chasing the lowest fare. Celebrity’s newer, larger Edge-class ships, such as Celebrity Beyond, sail the Caribbean instead.
What is inside Celebrity Edge?
- The Magic Carpet: an orange platform on the starboard side that moves up and down the ship. It works as a tender platform in port and as a bar or dining space at sea.
- Infinite Verandas: the balcony is part of the room, and the top half of the window lowers at the push of a button.
- Eden: a three-deck dining and performance venue at the back of the ship, facing the sea.
- The Resort Deck and Rooftop Garden: a terraced pool deck and a garden on the top deck.
- The Retreat: the suite area, with its own restaurant, sundeck and lounge.
- The Sunset Bar: a bar designed by Nate Berkus, Celebrity’s Edge Series travel ambassador.
- The Spa and Fitness Center.
Celebrity Edge cabins: which to pick and which to avoid
Most rooms are Edge Staterooms with Infinite Verandas, alongside oceanviews, insides and suites. Suites in The Retreat run from Sky Suites up to the Iconic Suite and the two-story Edge Villas.
Pick:
- Sunset Verandas at the back of the ship if you want a traditional balcony. Cruise Mummy counts six per deck on Decks 7 to 12.
- Midship cabins on Deck 6 or 7 if you get seasick; they move least.
- An Infinite Veranda if you want the room to feel bigger; the balcony space becomes part of it when the window is closed.
- Sky Suites by the Magic Carpet: Cruise Mummy says the partial view isn’t a reason to avoid them.
Avoid or think twice:
- Cabins 12123 to 12182, under the Resort Deck, where loungers are moved early in the morning.
- Deck 3 cabins, under the busy public venues on Decks 4 and 5.
- Cabins at the very front or back of Decks 11 and 12 if you’re prone to seasickness.
- Standard insides with four people; they are small even for two.
- One half of a connecting pair, since the connecting door lets noise through.
Dining and activities
The main dining is included, along with the buffet and casual spots; some specialty restaurants carry a charge. Drinks, Wi-Fi and crew tips are extra unless you book an All Included fare, which bundles a Classic drinks package and Basic Wi-Fi. Our Celebrity line guide explains the fares.
Evenings center on the Theatre, Eden and the bars; days in Alaska are for the open decks and the Rooftop Garden. For how Celebrity compares with its rivals on Alaska routes, see Celebrity vs Princess.
Sister ships
Edge is the first of five Edge-class ships. Celebrity Apex (2021) is its near-twin at the same 130,818 tons. Celebrity Beyond (2022), Celebrity Ascent (2023) and Celebrity Xcel (2025) are built to a longer, larger design, and a sixth ship, Celebrity Xcite, is due in 2028.
