The Disney Wish was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and took its maiden voyage in July 2022 as the first of Disney’s Wish class. It has 1,250 staterooms. The double-occupancy figure is about 2,500 guests, but with families filling third, fourth and fifth berths the ship can carry about 4,000. It was the first Disney ship to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), and its stern figure is Rapunzel with Pascal.

Who the Disney Wish cruise ship suits

Families with children about 3 to 12 get the most from the Wish. The Oceaneer Club has Marvel Super Hero Academy and Star Wars: Cargo Bay areas, and there are separate spaces for tweens (Edge) and teens (Vibe), plus a nursery for babies and toddlers.

First-time Disney cruisers are the other core market. Three- and four-night sailings are a lower-commitment way to see whether the Disney premium is worth it before booking a week. Our short cruise guide compares the Wish with cheaper short trips.

Who should look elsewhere: adults without children and anyone pricing by the night. Our adults-only picks are a better start, and Royal Caribbean usually costs less for families who want thrills over theming.

Standout features

• Rotational dining with shows. You move between three main restaurants on a set rotation and your servers move with you. On the Wish they are 1923 (old Hollywood), Worlds of Marvel, with a Marvel-themed dinner, and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure.
• AquaMouse. A water ride on the top deck built around Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, billed as Disney’s first attraction at sea.
• Walt Disney Theatre. About 1,270 seats, for Broadway-style Disney stage shows. Two small cinemas, Wonderland and Never Land, show Disney films.
• Adults-only dining. Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté, toward the back of deck 12. Some specialty restaurants carry a charge, so check before you book a table.

Disney Wish cruise rooms: which to pick and avoid

Pick:

• Verandah rooms midship on a deck with staterooms above and below. Deck 7 is often recommended on the Wish class for that reason.
• Inside rooms in categories 11A or 11B over 11C if you want the cheapest room without the worst location.

Avoid or think twice:

• Category 11C inside rooms, which are all on deck 2, a long way from the pools and the buffet. They are close to the Oceaneer Club and nursery, which some families like.
• Rooms directly below the pool deck, where deck chairs are moved early in the morning. Check the deck plan for what sits above any room you’re offered.
• Rooms at the very front or back if you’re prone to seasickness.

Dining and activities

The fare covers the three rotational restaurants, the quick-service counters, room service basics and soft drinks at the drink stations. Alcohol, adults-only dining, Wi-Fi, spa treatments and gratuities are extra, as they are across the Disney fleet. On short sailings the day at the Bahamas island (Castaway Cay or Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point) takes up one full day, which leaves only one or two days for the ship itself. Book dining times, shows and kids’ club slots in the app as soon as your window opens.

Disney Wish cruise itinerary 2026–2027

• 2026 to spring 2027: Port Canaveral. Three- and four-night Bahamas sailings with Castaway Cay, Disney Lookout Cay and Nassau.
• Summer 2027: Europe. The Wish’s first European season: three- to ten-night cruises, with Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) in May and June and Northern and Western Europe sailings from Southampton in July and August. New ports include Zadar in Croatia, Trieste near Venice and Hellesylt in Norway.
• Fall 2027: New York. The Wish arrives in late September for seven sailings of four to seven nights, five of them to Bermuda and the rest to Canada and New England. See our New York cruise port guide.
• Late 2027 to 2028: San Juan, then Port Canaveral. After New York the Wish sails five- to seven-night Southern and Eastern Caribbean cruises from San Juan, then returns to Port Canaveral for three- and four-night Bahamas trips.
