The Disney Destiny is the third Wish-class ship, built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. It entered service on November 20, 2025, with a maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. With every berth filled it carries up to about 4,100 guests, so the double-occupancy figure understates how busy school-holiday sailings get.

The Disney Destiny christening

The ship was christened on November 10, 2025, at Port Everglades. Its godmother is Susan Egan, the actress and singer who voiced Megara in Disney’s Hercules, a fitting pick for a ship themed to heroes and villains.

Who it suits

Families with children about 3 to 12 are the core market, as on every Disney ship. The Destiny has the Wish-class kids’ spaces: Disney’s Oceaneer Club for ages 3 to 10, with its Marvel Super Hero Academy, Edge for tweens aged 11 to 13, Vibe for teens aged 14 to 17, and the “it’s a small world” nursery for babies from 6 months to 3 years.

Marvel and Lion King fans get more from this ship than its sisters, because the theming leans on those stories.

Families who want a week but not Port Canaveral will like the Fort Lauderdale base and the seven-night Caribbean options.

Standout features

• Heroes and villains theming. The Grand Hall atrium is themed to Wakanda, with a Black Panther statue, and there is a lounge inspired by the Sanctum Sanctorum from Doctor Strange. The stern carries Spider-Man imagery, one of the details people notice first on the Disney Destiny cruise ship exterior.
• Rotational dining. 1923 (old Hollywood), Worlds of Marvel with a Guardians of the Galaxy dinner show, and Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, a dinner show.
• Shows. The Walt Disney Theatre, with about 1,270 seats, stages Disney Hercules, Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure.
• AquaMouse. The Wish-class water ride, here with a Mickey and Minnie short called “Sing a Silly Song.”

Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid

Pick:

• Midship verandah rooms with staterooms above and below. Deck 7 is a common recommendation on the Wish class.
• Inside rooms in categories 11A or 11B over 11C.

Avoid or think twice:

• Category 11C inside rooms, the category DCL Guide says to skip on the Wish-class ships, and deck 2 rooms in general, which are a long way from the pools and buffet.
• Rooms directly under the pool deck, where deck chairs are moved early. Check the deck plan for what sits above any room you’re offered.
• The very forward and aft rooms if you get seasick.

Dining and activities

Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté are the adults-only restaurants; some specialty restaurants carry a charge, so check when you book. The fare covers the three rotational restaurants, the buffet and quick-service counters and soft drinks at the drink stations. Alcohol, Wi-Fi, gratuities and spa treatments are extra, as across the Disney fleet.

Disney Destiny cruise ship itinerary 2026–2027

• 2026 to 2027: Fort Lauderdale. Four-, five- and seven-night cruises to the Bahamas, the Eastern Caribbean and the Western Caribbean through spring 2027. Summer 2027 stays in Fort Lauderdale with three- to seven-night Bahamas and Caribbean sailings. The Bahamas trips call at Nassau and Disney’s two islands, Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
• Fall 2027: the ship opens the season in Fort Lauderdale and then moves to Port Canaveral for the first time, with three- to seven-night Bahamas and Western Caribbean cruises.
