Military cruise deals: every cruise line's military discount for 2026–2027

The best military cruise deals are Disney's military rates, which were 30% to 35% off on its listed sailings when we checked in October 2026, and Norwegian's 10% off the voyage fare on every cruise for active-duty members and veterans. Most other lines give a small saving or onboard credit. Always price the military rate against the current public sale, because the sale is sometimes cheaper.

Book it if

  • You hold a military ID, retiree ID or DD 214 and can show it when the line asks.
  • You can choose from the sailings a line lists, not one fixed week.
  • You will compare the military rate with the public promotion before paying.

Skip it if

  • You want the discount on a second cabin for friends. On most lines the service member must sleep in the discounted stateroom.
  • You are a veteran who did not retire and want Disney. Its rates name active and retired personnel.
  • You are counting on a free cruise. The one free offer still charges taxes, fees and port expenses.

How we picked

Military discount cruises are ordinary sailings sold at a special rate, so we ranked the offers, not the ships. We looked at how much each one saves, who qualifies, how many sailings it covers and whether it combines with a public sale. Lines whose terms we could read on their own site rank first. Where a line’s page would not load, we say so and give the date of the report we used. To choose the ship itself, start with our cruise line rankings and how we rate cruises.

The best military cruise deals in 2026 and 2027

  1. Biggest military discount

Disney Cruise Line, Listed sailings on Disney Wonder, Magic, Dream, Wish, Fantasy, Treasure and Destiny

Why: Disney publishes a list of military-rate sailings, and the ones shown were 30% to 35% off the voyage fare (checked October 2026). Active and retired U.S. service members qualify, including the National Guard, Reserves, Coast Guard and Space Force, and a spouse can book with a valid military ID when the member isn't sailing.

Watch out: One stateroom per service member per sailing, and Disney caps the offer at 50 staterooms per category on each sailing. The rate can't be combined with other offers, and taxes, fees, port expenses and gratuities are extra.

From $582 per personChecked October 2026
  2. Best year-round discount on any sailing

    Norwegian Cruise Line, Any ship

Why: The Military Appreciation Program takes 10% off the voyage fare all year for veterans and active-duty members in the United States and Canada, with an onboard military reception and a challenge coin. Norwegian also has standing discounts for teachers and first responders.

Watch out: You have to register and verify through ID.me before booking. Limited-time offers with a higher percentage can't be combined with the standing 10%.

From $89 per personChecked October 2026
  3. Widest eligibility, including first responders

    Royal Caribbean, Selected sailings

Why: Military rates cover active-duty members, retirees, honorably discharged veterans with at least two years of service or six months in an active war zone, and spouses of deployed or deceased personnel. A separate rate covers active and retired police, firefighters and emergency medical staff, volunteers included.

Watch out: Selected ships and sailings only, and Royal Caribbean doesn't publish the size of the discount. Everyone in the stateroom gets the rate, but no other stateroom does.

From $50 per personChecked October 2026
  4. Best discount that stacks with a sale

Celebrity Cruises, Select staterooms and sailings

Why: A fixed saving per person for the first two guests: $25 in an inside or ocean view stateroom and $100 in a veranda, Concierge Class, AquaClass or The Retreat, to a maximum of $200 per stateroom (checked October 2026). Celebrity says it can be combined with current promotions.

Watch out: The amount is small next to the fare. Veterans show a DD 214 and photo ID at check-in, and travel agent, loyalty and some deal rates are excluded.

From $166 per personChecked October 2026

Disney cruise military discount: how the military rates work

The Disney cruise military discount is a list of sailings, not a percentage you can apply anywhere. Disney posts the ships and dates that carry military rates, and each line shows its discount. When we checked in October 2026, the listed sailings were 30% or 35% off and left from Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Diego and Galveston.

  • Who qualifies: active or retired U.S. military personnel, including the National Guard, Reservists, the Coast Guard and the Space Force, and certain commissioned officers of the Public Health Service and NOAA. A spouse can book when the service member isn’t sailing, with a valid, active U.S. military ID.
  • Limits: one stateroom per eligible member per sailing, and no more than 50 staterooms per category on each sailing. New bookings only.
  • What isn’t covered: taxes, fees, port expenses, gratuities and Port Adventures. The rate can’t be combined with other offers.
  • Proof: the eligible person must sail in the stateroom and show valid identification at check-in.

Disney also lists a $250 onboard credit per reservation on selected Disney Wish and Disney Dream sailings from Florida completed by December 31, 2026 (checked October 2026), and it combines with the military rate. Our Disney Cruise Line guide covers the ships, and Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are the two on the San Diego list.

Norwegian Cruise Line military discount

Norwegian runs the simplest program. Its Military Appreciation Program gives veterans and active-duty members in the United States and Canada 10% off the voyage fare all year, on any sailing. Norwegian said in May 2026 that guests must register and verify through ID.me to use it.

Norwegian also runs limited-time offers. In May 2026 it raised the military discount to 20% on selected sailings and let military guests extend it to companions in separate staterooms. That offer could not be combined with the standing 10%, so check which one is better on the day you book.

Carnival, Princess, Celebrity and MSC military discounts

  • Carnival cruise military discount. Carnival sells military rates to active and retired personnel but publishes no fixed percentage. The Points Guy described them in April 2024 as discounted fares, onboard credits and reduced deposits. Carnival’s military page would not load when we checked in October 2026, so ask for the military rate when you price a sailing.
  • Princess Cruises military discount. Princess gives onboard credit instead of a lower fare: up to $250 for U.S. and Canadian veterans and active, retired and disabled military, as The Points Guy reported in April 2024, with status verified through Princess’s website. Princess’s own page would not load when we checked in October 2026, so confirm the amount for your sailing.
  • Celebrity Cruises military discount. Celebrity takes $25 or $100 per person off for the first two guests, depending on the stateroom (checked October 2026), and allows it with current promotions.
  • MSC cruise military discount. MSC was reported in April 2024 to give 5% off inside and ocean view cabins and 10% off balconies and suites to active and retired U.S. military and family members sailing with them. MSC’s own page blocked our check in October 2026, so confirm the figures before you rely on them.
  • Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean offers military rates on selected sailings. The eligible person must occupy the stateroom, and proof is an ID card for active and retired personnel or a DD 214 with a current photo for veterans.
  • Holland America. Holland America was reported in April 2024 to give $100 of onboard credit per cabin on new bookings by active U.S. and Canadian military and veterans. Its offer page returned an error when we checked in October 2026, so ask whether the credit still applies.

Free cruises for veterans: Margaritaville at Sea Heroes Sail Free

The one free military cruise on offer is Heroes Sail Free from Margaritaville at Sea, a small line that sails from Florida and that we don’t rank. It is the answer to most searches for a free cruise for veterans, teachers or first responders.

  • Who qualifies: the line names U.S. active and former military, first responders, educators, medical personnel and government employees. You must be a verified GovX member when you book.
  • What is free: the cruise fare for the first and second guests, in an interior stateroom the line assigns, on selected dates on Margaritaville at Sea Islander (from Tampa) and Paradise (from Palm Beach).
  • What you still pay: taxes, fees and port expenses for every guest, due at booking. A third or fourth guest pays the normal fare.
  • The catch: free cabins are limited on each sailing, first come first served, and blackout dates may apply. On other dates or in better cabins, the offer is 20% off for up to four guests, and that discount doesn’t apply to a guest traveling alone.

So the free veteran cruise is real, but it is a sailing from Florida in an interior cabin, with the port charges still to pay. Add drinks, tips and the cost of getting to the port before you call it free.

First responder and teacher cruise discounts

First responder cruise discounts are rarer than military ones. Two lines publish standing terms:

  • Norwegian added a First Responder Discount in May 2026: 5% off the voyage fare on all cruises for active and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and others in the United States and Canada, verified through ID.me.
  • Royal Caribbean offers reduced rates on selected ships and sailings when at least one guest in the stateroom is an active or retired employee or volunteer of a U.S. or Canadian law enforcement agency, fire department or emergency medical service. Bring a badge or work ID and a second form of identification.

Teacher cruise discounts are harder to find. The Norwegian Cruise Line teacher discount is 5% off the voyage fare all year for educators in the United States and Canada, again through ID.me. Heroes Sail Free also covers educators. We found no other standing teacher discount on the lines we cover, so treat any other teacher offer as a short promotion and read its end date.

How to get the most from a military discount

  1. Price it both ways. Check the military rate and the public sale for the same cabin. A discount that can’t be combined with a promotion can lose to the promotion.
  2. Ask before you pay a deposit. Request the military rate by name, and verify your status first where the line uses ID.me or GovX.
  3. Carry the proof. Disney and Celebrity both ask for identification at check-in, and Royal Caribbean lists the exact card or form each group must show.
  4. Use the calendar as well. A cheap week saves more than most discounts. See our last-minute cruise deals guide and our cruises by month pages, and our senior cruises guide if a 55-plus rate also applies to you.
  5. Drive if you can. The saving from skipping a flight is usually larger than the discount. Our home-port guides for Norfolk, San Diego, Seattle and Baltimore cover terminals and parking.
