Azamara cruises 2026–2027: ships, fares and who it suits
Azamara cruises suit travelers who care more about the ports than the ship: four small ships of about 700 guests each that stay late or overnight in port, with drinks and gratuities already in the fare. Skip it if you want a new ship, a long list of restaurants or Wi-Fi included, because the ships date from 1999 to 2001 and internet costs extra. It sits between the premium lines and the luxury lines, and it prices that way.
Book it if
- You plan your trip around the ports. Azamara's summer 2027 program has 89 overnight stays and 381 late-night departures.
- You want drinks and tips settled up front. Select spirits, beers and wines, and gratuities, are in every fare.
- You like a small ship without luxury-line prices. Four ships of about 700 guests is the whole fleet.
Skip it if
- You want a modern ship. All four were built between 1999 and 2001 for another cruise line.
- You expect internet in the fare. Wi-Fi is sold in packages, and specialty restaurants, the spa and shore excursions cost extra too.
- You are traveling with children who need kids' clubs, slides and shows. Ships this size don't have them.

Azamara cruise ships
The Azamara cruise line has four ships, and they are near twins. All four were built in France between 1999 and 2001 for Renaissance Cruises, a line that no longer exists, as part of a series known as the R class. Each is about 30,300 gross tons. That makes choosing easy: pick the itinerary and the date, because the ship will feel much the same.
- Azamara JourneyThe line's first ship. In our snapshot it sails the southern Caribbean from San Juan and short Mediterranean routes from Lisbon and Barcelona.
- Azamara QuestJoined a few months after Journey. Our snapshot has it in Northern Europe from Copenhagen.
- Azamara PursuitThe Alaska and Japan ship. It took Azamara back to Alaska in 2026 and sails Japan in cherry blossom season in spring 2027.
- Azamara OnwardThe latest arrival, with more suites than its sisters (64 against 46) and one extra bar.
About 70% of staterooms have a veranda, and each ship has only 26 interior rooms. Every ship has a main restaurant, a buffet, a pool grill and two specialty restaurants: Prime C for steak and seafood, and Aqualina for Italian food.
What an Azamara cruise fare includes
Azamara calls its inclusions “Always Azamara”. The line’s own list covers:
- Dining in the main restaurant, the buffet and the casual venues, plus room service.
- Drinks: select standard spirits, international beers and wines, along with bottled water, soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas.
- Gratuities.
- Self-service laundry.
- An AzAmazing Evening on most voyages: a private event ashore for the ship’s guests.
- Shuttles between the port and the town, where they are available.
What you pay for:
- Wi-Fi. It is sold in onboard packages. Guests in suites get an allowance of internet minutes.
- The two specialty restaurants, unless you are in a suite, where seating is complimentary.
- Shore excursions, spa treatments and premium drinks.
- Flights.
That puts Azamara in the middle of the market. It includes more than Celebrity or Princess do in a basic fare, and less than Regent Seven Seas or Seabourn. Our all-inclusive cruise guide compares the lines item by item.
Where Azamara sails in 2026 and 2027
Azamara plans its seasons around time ashore. The line counts late nights and overnights in every announcement, and nearly half of its European sailings in summer 2027 have one or the other. Ship assignments below come from the line’s announcements and our sailings snapshot, and they can change.
Azamara Mediterranean cruises and Greek island cruises
Europe is the core of the summer program. The summer 2027 collection has 68 sailings and includes cruises timed to the Monaco Grand Prix and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, ten “Country-Intensive” cruises that stay within one country, and returns to the small English ports of Dartmouth and Fowey.
Azamara Mediterranean cruises tend to mix one or two famous ports with smaller ones. Routes on sale in October 2026 include an Italy and Greece cruise by way of the Amalfi Coast, Siracusa and Olympia, and a Croatia, Montenegro and Greece cruise from Dubrovnik and Kotor to Athens. For seasons and ports, see our Europe cruise guide, the Greece cruise guide and the Northern Europe cruise guide.
Azamara Alaska cruises
Azamara returned to Alaska in summer 2026 after seven years away. The season was announced as Azamara Pursuit voyages of 10 to 13 days, longer than the usual week, with calls that included Juneau, Wrangell, Skagway, Ketchikan, Kodiak and Dutch Harbor, and stays of more than ten hours in some ports. Our snapshot shows Pursuit in Alaska again in August 2027, on a 13-night cruise from Seward.
A ship of 700 guests is far smaller than the big ships on the route. See how it compares in our best cruise lines for Alaska ranking and the Alaska cruise guide.
Winter: the Caribbean, South America, Asia and Australia
Azamara’s winter 2027 to 2028 season runs from October 16, 2027 to April 28, 2028, with 87 cruises, 60 overnights and more than 150 late-night departures. It covers Brazil, Australia, Asia, the Bahamas and Egypt, where Luxor and Alexandria get extended stays between October and February.
For this winter, our snapshot has Azamara Journey on a southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan in December 2026. Our Caribbean cruise guide covers the regions and the best months.
Grand Voyages, crossings and the world cruise
The summer 2027 program has six Grand Voyages of 35 to 41 nights, among them Miami to Venice, Copenhagen to New York, Kobe to Vancouver and Athens to Lisbon. Azamara also sells shorter Atlantic crossings when its ships move between Europe and the Americas, and two are in the table below. Our repositioning and transatlantic cruise guide explains how those work.
Azamara’s 2029 World Cruise was open for booking when we checked in October 2026. Our world cruise guide compares the lines that sell them.
How Azamara compares
- Against Oceania: the closest rival. Oceania has a bigger fleet that includes newer and larger ships. Azamara’s edge is the late nights in port and the drinks and tips in its standard fare.
- Against Viking: Viking has newer ships, includes one excursion in each port and limits included drinks to meals. Azamara includes drinks all day but no excursions.
- Against Windstar: Windstar sails smaller yachts of 148 to 342 guests and charges extra for alcohol, Wi-Fi and tips unless you add its package.
- In our rankings: Azamara is the port-intensive value pick in our best luxury and small-ship cruises ranking. With long evenings ashore, it also suits readers of our cruises for couples guide.
Azamara cruise deals and sample sailings
Azamara fares sit well above the mainstream lines, so cheap Azamara cruises are relative. Three checks help when you compare Azamara cruise deals.
- Book early. Azamara has opened its new seasons with an early booking discount on the fare.
- Count what the offer adds. Promotions often add onboard credit, Wi-Fi or a premium drinks package for verandas and suites. Work out what you would have spent on those anyway.
- Compare like with like. Drinks and tips are in the fare, so add them to a rival’s price before you compare.
