Majestic Princess cruise ship: where it sails and who it suits

Majestic Princess is a 2017 Royal-class ship of about 3,560 guests that spends 2026–2027 on long, far-off routes: Canada and New England from New York in fall 2026, South America and Antarctica scenic cruising from Buenos Aires in winter, then British Isles and Norway cruises from Southampton in 2027. Book it for the route, with a newer ship as the bonus.

Book it if

  • You want a 15-day Cape Horn crossing or a 17-day Antarctica scenic cruise from Buenos Aires.
  • You want a 12-day British Isles or 14-day Iceland and Norway cruise from Southampton.
  • You want a late-season Canada and New England week from New York; the last 2026 departures are October 24 and 31.

Skip it if

  • You want to step off the ship in Antarctica; big ships only sail past it.
  • You want a short cruise; most of its 2027 trips run 12 days or more.
  • Your kids want water slides and thrill rides.

Who it suits

South America and Antarctica travelers. It is the largest Princess ship to offer a winter season in South America, so you get Royal-class restaurants and cabins on a route usually sailed by older, smaller ships.

Northern Europe cruisers. From Southampton it sails the British Isles, Iceland and Norway, and the capitals of northern Europe, with no flights needed for UK travelers.

Couples and older travelers who like long voyages, sea days and a choice of restaurants.

Who should look elsewhere: anyone who wants a Caribbean or Alaska week from a US port in 2027. For the same kind of ship on a US route, see Discovery Princess (Mexico from Los Angeles and Alaska from Vancouver) or Royal Princess.

What is inside Majestic Princess?

Inside, Majestic Princess has the Piazza atrium, the Princess Theater, a casino, the Lotus Spa with The Enclave thermal suite, and Movies Under the Stars by the pool. It also has the Hollywood Pool Club, a glass-domed indoor pool with hot tubs that is useful on cold days in Patagonia or Norway.

  • The Piazza: the central atrium with the International Café, Bellini’s and Crooners.
  • Hollywood Pool Club: an indoor pool and hot tubs under a glass dome.
  • The Enclave: a thermal suite in the Lotus Spa.
  • Movies Under the Stars: an open-air poolside amphitheater.
  • O’Malley’s Irish Pub and Good Spirits at Sea.

Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid

Cabins run from interiors (about 158 to 162 square feet) and oceanviews (about 146 to 206 square feet) to balconies (about 214 to 222 square feet including the balcony), mini-suites (about 323 square feet) and suites (about 460 to 932 square feet).

Pick:

  • Aft penthouse suites and aft-facing balconies if you want a wake view with less wind; the biggest suite balconies are on Decks 14 and 15.
  • Mini-suites with angled balconies midship, which have more outdoor space than a standard balcony.
  • Midship cabins on a lower deck if you get seasick; they move least.
  • Inside cabins if you want the lowest fare on a long voyage.

Avoid or think twice:

  • Forward balconies L101 to L108 and M101 to M108, which are too windy to use at sea.
  • Cabins under the Lido or sun deck (M302 to M436 and L101 to L301), where deck chairs are moved early.
  • Most Deck 8 balconies (cabins starting with E), where lifeboats block the view.
  • Deck 8 cabins above the evening venues, such as E201 to E225, if you go to bed early.
  • Balconies overlooked by the SeaWalk, including M411 to M425 and R415 to R429.
  • High forward cabins (L101 to L229, M101 to M229, R101 to R229) if you get seasick, especially on a Cape Horn or Drake Passage route.

Dining and activities

The main dining room is included, along with the World Fresh Marketplace buffet, the International Café, the Salty Dog Cafe, Alfredo’s Slice, Swirls ice cream and afternoon tea. Extra-charge options include Crown Grill, Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, the Chef’s Table Lumiere, the Caymus Winemaker’s Dinner, Ultimate Balcony Dining and food at O’Malley’s Irish Pub.

Kids’ clubs cover ages 3 to 7 and 8 to 12, with a teen space for 13 to 17. Drinks, Wi-Fi and gratuities are extra unless you buy a Princess Plus or Premier package; our Princess line guide explains what each covers.

Sister ships

Majestic Princess is one of six Royal-class ships: Royal Princess (2013), Regal Princess (2014), Majestic (2017), Sky Princess (2019), Enchanted Princess (2020) and Discovery Princess (2022). Sky Princess also sails from Southampton in 2027, so if Majestic’s dates don’t fit, it offers a very similar ship from the same port.

Majestic Princess FAQ

Where does Majestic Princess sail from?

New York in October 2026, Buenos Aires and San Antonio (for Santiago) from December 2026 to February 2027, and Southampton from March to October 2027. The same South America and Southampton pattern repeats in 2027–28.

Does Majestic Princess go to Antarctica?

Yes, as scenic cruising. Its 17-night cruises from Buenos Aires sail along the Antarctic Peninsula without landing; under IAATO rules, ships with more than 500 passengers cannot put guests ashore there.

How big is Majestic Princess?

About 143,700 gross tons and 1,083 feet long, with 19 decks, about 3,560 guests at double occupancy and about 1,346 crew.

Does Majestic Princess still sail to Alaska?

Not in 2026 or 2027. It sailed Alaska from Seattle from 2021 to 2024, but it is not in the Princess 2027 Alaska fleet. For Alaska, see our Princess Alaska guide.

Is Majestic Princess a good ship?

We don’t publish ratings for ships. It is a 2017 Royal-class ship with more restaurants and an indoor pool, and in 2026–2027 it sails routes few big ships do. Compare Princess with other lines on our cruise line rankings.
