Regal Princess was built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone, Italy, and sailed its maiden voyage on May 20, 2014. It was christened by the original cast of The Love Boat. It is the twin of Royal Princess and the second of six Royal-class ships in the Princess Cruises fleet. More than 1,400 of its 1,780 cabins have a balcony. In most years it alternates between Europe in summer and the Caribbean in winter. In 2026 it stayed in the Caribbean all year, and in 2027 it returns to Europe for the summer.

Who it suits

Couples and retirees who want a big ship with plenty of restaurants, a good wine list and a calm atmosphere. The ship’s wine program won a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2023.

East Coast cruisers who can get to Fort Lauderdale easily and want a choice of Caribbean routes from the same port.

Multi-generation families who want kids’ clubs and a teen lounge but not the noise of a water-park ship.

Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid

Cabins run from interiors (about 158 to 162 square feet) and balconies (about 214 to 222 square feet) to mini-suites, Reserve Collection mini-suites and suites of 460 to 932 square feet.

Pick:

• Midship balconies on the lower and middle decks for the least motion and shortest walks to the lifts.
• Aft penthouse suites on decks 14 and 15 if you want a big wraparound balcony.

Avoid or think twice:

• Forward-facing cabins on the Lido and Marina decks (L101 to L108 and M101 to M108): the balconies can’t be used at sea and have solid fronts that block the view when you sit.
• Cabins beneath the SeaWalk, which walkers can see into, and below the Horizon Terrace at the back of the ship.
• Marina deck cabins under the Lido pool deck, where morning sun-lounger noise carries.
• Emerald deck cabins over the theater, where evening show noise carries, and any balcony sold as obstructed, where lifeboats block part of the view.
• Forward cabins on high decks if you get seasick.

Dining and activities

Included: the main dining room with flexible seating, the World Fresh Marketplace buffet, International Café (open 24 hours), Prego Pizzeria, Trident Grill and Swirls ice cream. Extra charge: Crown Grill (steakhouse), Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, Chef’s Table Lumière, the Crab Shack and Ocean Terrace seafood bar.

• 2026: the Caribbean, year round, from Fort Lauderdale. 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruises (the Bahamas and St. Thomas), 7-day Western Caribbean cruises (Mexico) and 8-day Southern Caribbean cruises to the ABC islands, plus a longer Southern Caribbean sailing in September.
• Winter 2026–27: the Caribbean, as one of eight Princess ships in the region, with Southern Caribbean sailings on sale from Fort Lauderdale.
• Summer 2027: Northern Europe. It has sailings on sale from Southampton, England, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Sister ships
