Where to cruise in April 2027

Holidays and school breaks

Easter Sunday is March 28, 2027, so the Easter crowds are mostly a March story this year. School spring breaks are set district by district and some run into the first days of April, so the first week can still be busy on short and family-friendly sailings. After that, ships are calmer and prices usually ease until the summer holidays. Orthodox Easter is May 2, 2027, which matters only if you’re looking at Greece at the very end of the month. Europe, repositioning cruises and the last tropical weeks

The Mediterranean opens in April with mild days, lower fares and fewer people at the big sights, but the sea is still cool for swimming and most Northern Europe routes haven’t started. Our Europe cruise guide has the full season.

April is also when ships move. Transatlantic crossings carry ships from the Caribbean to Europe, and Panama Canal repositioning cruises take others to the West Coast for the Alaska season, with the canal’s dry season lasting until about the middle of the month. These one-way trips are usually good value per night, but they have many sea days and need a flight home.

In the tropics, the Caribbean is still dry and well ahead of the Atlantic hurricane season, which starts on June 1. Humpback whales are in Hawaiian waters through April, so a Hawaii cruise early in the month still falls inside whale season.

First sailings of the season: Alaska and Bermuda

Two summer regions start up in April. Several lines begin their Alaska season in late April. Norwegian, for example, starts its 2027 round trips from Seattle then. These are the cheapest and quietest Alaska weeks, with snow still on the mountains and cool weather.

Bermuda sailings from the Northeast also begin. In 2027 Norwegian Luna starts from New York on April 6, Norwegian Pearl from Philadelphia on April 8 and Norwegian Breakaway from Boston on April 18. April in Bermuda is pleasant for sightseeing but cool for swimming.

Is April a good time to cruise?

Yes, for value. The Mediterranean opens with mild weather, the Caribbean is still dry, and repositioning cruises are good value per night.

Can you cruise to Alaska in April?

Only at the very end of the month, when several lines start their season. Those are the cheapest Alaska weeks, with snow still on the peaks.

Is April hurricane season in the Caribbean?

No. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so April is well outside it.

When is Easter in 2027, and does it affect April cruises?

Easter Sunday is March 28, 2027. Most spring break demand falls in March and the first days of April, so the rest of April is usually quieter and cheaper.
