Wonder of the Seas is the fifth Oasis-class ship. Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, built it, and its maiden voyage was in March 2022. It spent its first years sailing seven-night Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, then moved to PortMiami in August 2025 for short Bahamas trips. With every berth filled it can carry just over 7,000 guests, so school-holiday sailings feel far busier than the double-occupancy figure suggests.

Who it suits

Families on a school-break budget. Three or four nights on a ship this size costs far less than a week on an Icon-class ship, and the kids still get slides, the Splashaway Bay aqua park, mini golf and an ice rink.

Groups celebrating something. Birthdays, bachelorette trips and reunions fill these short sailings. There are more than a dozen bars and several theme nights, so a group can split up by day and meet for a show.

First-time cruisers testing the idea. If you’re not sure whether you’ll like a big ship, a Wonder of the Seas cruise is a lower-risk trial than a week-long booking. Our 3- to 5-night cruise guide compares the other short options.

Standout features

• Eight neighborhoods, including Central Park (a real garden with thousands of plants), the Boardwalk and the Suite Neighborhood, which Wonder introduced to the Oasis class.
• Slides: The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides and the Ultimate Abyss dry slide.
• AquaTheater shows at the stern, with high diving and acrobatics, plus ice shows in Studio B.
• Activities included in the fare: FlowRider surf simulator, rock-climbing walls, a zip line, Wonder Dunes mini golf, the carousel and the sports court.
• Five pools, plus the Splashaway Bay kids’ aqua park.

Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid

Pick:

• Midship cabins on lower-to-mid decks (Cruise Hive suggests decks 6 to 8) for the least motion and less noise than cabins under public areas.
• Aft-facing balconies if you want an open ocean view and the ship’s wake, and don’t mind being far from the elevators.
• Ocean-facing balconies rather than Boardwalk or Central Park balconies if the view matters. The inward-facing ones look across at other cabins and down on busy public areas.

Avoid or think twice:

• Cabins near the AquaTheater at the stern, including the AquaTheater suites that overlook it. Shows and rehearsals are loud.
• Cabins directly under the main pool, which sits midship on Deck 15. Crew move loungers early in the morning.
• Cabins directly above the Royal Promenade or under the Royal Theater, and cabins near Studio B and the busy bars, if you sleep early.
• Very forward cabins if you get seasick, and some balconies that look onto lifeboats.

Dining and activities

Complimentary dining includes the main dining room, the Windjammer buffet, Sorrento’s pizza, El Loco Fresh, the Dog House, Park Café, Café Promenade, the Solarium Bistro and Sprinkles ice cream. Specialty restaurants cost extra: Chops Grille, Izumi, Hooked and 150 Central Park. Coastal Kitchen is open only to suite guests.

On a three-night trip there are only three dinners, so one specialty meal is usually enough. Drinks packages, Wi-Fi and gratuities are extra across Royal Caribbean. Budget for them, or compare with the lines in our all-inclusive cruise guide.

Where Wonder of the Seas sails in 2026–2027

Wonder of the Seas is based at PortMiami, Florida, on short Bahamas round trips:

• 3 nights: Miami, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Nassau, Miami.
• 4 nights: Miami, Perfect Day at CocoCay, a sea day, Nassau, Miami.

In Nassau, Royal Caribbean sells day passes to Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, its new beach club. The pass is extra and is not included in your fare. Short Miami sailings are on sale into spring 2027, and Royal Caribbean’s 2027–28 schedule keeps Wonder on 3- and 4-night cruises from Miami. Reports of a later move to China remain unconfirmed.

Sister ships

Wonder has five Oasis-class sisters. Oasis of the Seas (2009) spends summers sailing from New York (Cape Liberty), the closest Oasis-class option for the Northeast. Utopia of the Seas (2024) runs short trips from Port Canaveral. Symphony, Harmony and Allure of the Seas sail mostly from Florida, and Symphony adds Galveston in 2027.
