Crown Princess was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, and sailed its first cruise for Princess Cruises on June 14, 2006. Martha Stewart is its godmother. It is about 952 feet long, with 19 decks, about 1,547 guest cabins and nearly 900 balconies, and about 1,200 crew. It is the first of three near-identical ships, followed by Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess.

Where does Crown Princess sail in 2026–2027?

Crown Princess finishes its time in Australia in November 2026, crosses to the US, and spends winter 2026–27 in the Southern Caribbean from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Bridgetown, Barbados. In spring 2027 it moves to the West Coast for an Alaska season from Vancouver and Whittier, then sails Hawaii and Mexico from Los Angeles.

  • November to December 2026: on the move. A 5-night cruise from Sydney in early November closes its Australia stay, and Grand Princess takes over there. A 16-night Panama Canal cruise from Los Angeles on December 3 and an 8-night Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale then bring it to Puerto Rico.
  • Late December 2026 to March 2027: Southern Caribbean. 7-night and 14-night cruises from San Juan, plus a 5-night Eastern Caribbean trip. In early 2027 it also sails 7-night cruises from Bridgetown, making it the first ship in Princess’s new Barbados home port. Cruise Industry News lists Martinique, St. Maarten and Grenada among the calls. See our cruises from San Juan guide and our Caribbean cruise guide.
  • April 2027: back to the West Coast. A 16-night Panama Canal cruise from Fort Lauderdale on April 4, then short Pacific Northwest and Alaska sailings from Los Angeles and Vancouver.
  • May to September 2027: Alaska. 7-night one-way cruises between Vancouver and Whittier, the cruise port for Anchorage, plus 14-night round trips from Vancouver. Our Princess Alaska guide explains the routes and the cruisetours, and our Vancouver cruise port guide covers the terminal.
  • September 2027 to February 2028: Hawaii and Mexico from Los Angeles. 16-night Hawaii round trips, 10- and 11-night Mexican Riviera cruises and short Pacific Coast trips from Los Angeles, after a 23-night Hawaii cruise from Vancouver in September. A 60-night South Pacific voyage leaves Los Angeles in February 2028.
  • Summer 2028: back in Alaska from Vancouver and Whittier, according to the sailings already on sale.

Who it suits

Caribbean travelers who want to skip Florida. Flying into San Juan or Barbados puts you in the Southern Caribbean on day one, so a 7-night cruise can reach islands that ships from Florida need longer to reach.

First-time Alaska cruisers. The one-way route between Vancouver and Whittier covers more of the Alaska coast than a 7-night round trip, and Whittier is the port for Anchorage, so you can add time inland before or after.

Travelers who like a mid-size, traditional ship. At about 3,080 guests it is smaller than the newest Princess ships, with three main dining rooms, a three-deck Piazza atrium and the adults-only Sanctuary.

Who should look elsewhere: families who want slides and big-ship attractions, or anyone who wants the newest ship. For a newer Princess ship in Alaska, see Discovery Princess.

What is inside Crown Princess?

Crown Princess has the Princess Theater, a casino, Movies Under the Stars by the pool, Club Fusion, Skywalkers Nightclub 15 decks above the sea, the Lotus Spa and fitness center, and The Sanctuary, an adults-only retreat. The fact sheet lists four pools plus a splash pool and seven hot tubs.

  • The Piazza: a three-deck atrium with street performers, the 24-hour International Café and Vines wine bar.
  • Bars: Crooners piano bar, the Wheelhouse Bar and Good Spirits at Sea.
  • Sports: a sports deck and Princess Links putting green.
  • Fine Arts Gallery and The Shops of Princess.

Crown Princess deck plan: cabins to pick and avoid

Princess lists interiors, oceanviews, balconies, mini-suites, Reserve Collection mini-suites and suites, plus a Two Bedroom Family Suite that sleeps up to eight. The fact sheet counts 30 suites, 178 mini-suites, 675 balcony cabins, 222 oceanviews and 440 interiors.

Pick:

  • The family suite for a group of up to eight: two linked rooms forward with two bathrooms and a shared balcony.
  • Cabins by the aft Terrace Pool, such as R744 to R747, for quick access to the quieter pool.
  • Midship cabins on a lower deck if you get seasick; they move least.
  • Inside cabins for the lowest fare.

Avoid or think twice:

  • Cabins directly under the Lido Deck pool area, where deck chairs are moved early and late.
  • Forward balconies such as L106 to L107, A201 to A202, B201 to B202 and D105 to D106, which are windy at sea.
  • Obstructed oceanviews on Deck 8, where lifeboats block the view, and L101 to L104 on Deck 14, which look onto the bridge.
  • High aft balconies R748 to R751, A750 to A753 and B748 to B757, where soot from the funnel can settle.
  • A628, C312 and D720, next to the laundry rooms.

Dining and activities

Princess lists the three main dining rooms, the World Fresh Marketplace buffet, Slice Pizzeria, The Salty Dog Grill, Coffee & Cones ice cream, the International Café, the Crab Shack lunch pop-up and afternoon tea as included. Crown Grill and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria carry a charge, and so does Vines wine bar.

Kids’ clubs cover ages 3 to 7 and 8 to 12 (The Lodge), with the Beach House for teens 13 to 17. Drinks, Wi-Fi and gratuities are extra unless you buy a Princess Plus or Premier package; our Princess line guide explains what each covers.

Sister ships

Crown Princess has two near-identical sisters: Emerald Princess (2007), which takes over the Barbados sailings in winter 2027–28, and Ruby Princess (2008), based in San Francisco. All three share the basic design of the older Grand Princess, scaled up.

Crown Princess FAQ

San Juan and Bridgetown, Barbados, from January to March; Fort Lauderdale for an April Panama Canal crossing; Vancouver and Whittier from May to September; and Los Angeles from late September for Hawaii, Mexico and the Pacific Coast.
