Coral Princess cruise ship: world cruises, Alaska and who it suits
Coral Princess is the smaller Princess ship to book for a long voyage: it sails the line's 2027 and 2028 world cruises and spends summer 2027 on Alaska cruises from Vancouver, including the one-way Voyage of the Glaciers to Whittier. It carries about 2,000 guests and fits the original Panama Canal locks, so pick it for a quieter ship, not for new venues.
Book it if
- You want the Princess world cruise in 2027 or 2028, or a 4- to 68-day segment of it.
- You want Alaska one way between Vancouver and Anchorage (Whittier), with Glacier Bay and time to add a land tour.
- You prefer a ship of about 2,000 guests to the 4,300 on Sun and Star Princess.
Skip it if
- You want the newest cabins and venues; it entered service in 2003.
- You want a round-trip Alaska cruise from Seattle; Royal Princess sails those.
- Your kids want water slides and thrill rides.

Part of the Princess Cruises fleet. Sister ships: Island Princess. Home ports: Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles / Long Beach, Vancouver.
Coral Princess was built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France and entered service in January 2003, christened by Mireya Moscoso, then President of Panama. It and its sister Island Princess are Panamax ships, sized for the original Panama Canal locks. It is about 965 feet long, with 16 decks, about 1,000 guest cabins (more than 700 with balconies) and about 895 crew. It sails for Princess Cruises, and a gas turbine in the funnel supplements its diesel engines.
Where does Coral Princess sail in 2026–2027?
Coral Princess sails Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale in late 2026, then the Princess world cruise from January 2027. From May to September 2027 it sails Alaska from Vancouver: one-way Voyage of the Glaciers trips to Whittier and Inside Passage round trips. In January 2028 it starts another world cruise.
- Fall and winter 2026: the Caribbean. 10-night Eastern Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale in October and November, then 7- and 11-night Caribbean trips over Christmas and New Year. Our Caribbean cruise guide compares the routes.
- January to May 2027: the world cruise. The Grand Circle Pacific Voyage leaves Fort Lauderdale on January 6, 2027 (129 days to Los Angeles) or Los Angeles on January 21, 2027 (114 days round trip, or 110 days to Vancouver). It covers the Panama Canal, Hawaii, the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Japan and Alaska. See our world cruise guide.
- Summer 2027: Alaska from Vancouver. 7-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruises between Vancouver and Anchorage (Whittier) with Glacier Bay, which can be combined into a 14-day round trip, plus Inside Passage cruises from Vancouver of 6 to 9 days with Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. Our Princess Alaska guide compares the ships.
- Fall 2027: Panama Canal and long voyages. After Alaska, a 23-night Panama Canal crossing from Vancouver and an 18-night one from Los Angeles are on sale, then Caribbean cruises from New York and Fort Lauderdale before the next world cruise.
- 2028: a 115-day world cruise from Fort Lauderdale or Los Angeles from January 3, 2028, then Alaska from Vancouver again in summer 2028, according to the sailings already on sale.
Vancouver sailings use Canada Place; our Vancouver cruise port guide covers getting there.

Who it suits
World cruisers and long-voyage travelers. Coral Princess runs the Princess world cruise in both 2027 and 2028, and Princess sells shorter segments from ports such as Honolulu, Sydney, Singapore and Tokyo.
Alaska cruisers who want a one-way route. Voyage of the Glaciers runs between Vancouver and Whittier, the port for Anchorage, which makes it easy to add a land tour to Denali.
Couples and retirees who prefer a mid-sized ship. About 2,000 guests means shorter lines and a calmer pool deck than on the Royal-class ships.
Who should look elsewhere: families with young children, and anyone who wants the newest ship. For a big, new Princess ship in Alaska, see Discovery Princess or Royal Princess.
Is Coral Princess a good ship for an Alaska cruise?
Yes, for a one-way trip with Glacier Bay. Its 7-day Voyage of the Glaciers cruises sail between Vancouver and Whittier with a day in Glacier Bay National Park and a late-night stay in Juneau northbound, and more than 700 of its cabins have balconies. The trade-off is age: it has fewer restaurants than Princess’s newer ships.
For a round trip without one-way flights, Inside Passage sailings from Vancouver use Endicott Arm instead of Glacier Bay. To compare other lines, see our best cruise lines for Alaska.
Standout features
- Panamax size: about 2,000 guests and 91,627 gross tons, small enough for the original canal locks.
- The Sanctuary: an adults-only outdoor retreat.
- The Conservatory: an enclosed top-deck area with a pool and hot tubs, useful on cold Alaska days.
- Movies Under the Stars by the pool, the Princess Theater and the Universe Lounge.
- The Piazza, with the International Café, Vines wine bar and Crooners.
Cabins to pick, cabins to avoid
Cabins run from interiors (about 158 to 162 square feet) and oceanviews (about 146 to 206 square feet) to balconies (about 214 to 222 square feet including the balcony), mini-suites (about 323 square feet) and suites (about 460 to 932 square feet).
Pick:
- Premium suites midship if you want the best cabin with an easy walk to everything; Vista suites are nearly the same, slightly less central.
- Aft balconies on Aloha deck (Deck 12) for families, close to the kids’ clubs and the Sanctuary.
- Aft-facing oceanview cabins on Decks 8 and 11 if you want a view behind the ship for less than a balcony.
- Inside cabins if you want the lowest fare on a long voyage and will spend your days on deck.
Avoid or think twice:
- Deck 12 cabins under the Lido pool deck (A311 to A623), where deck chairs are moved early and late.
- Forward balconies such as A209, A214, B205, B206, C205 and C206, which catch the wind at sea.
- Cabins next to the guest laundries (B711, C710, D720 and E717).
- Obstructed-view oceanview and balcony categories, where lifeboats block the view.
- Balconies on Decks 9 to 11 that are overlooked from the tiered decks above (C311 to C415, C505 to C633, D311 to D415 and D505 to D623).
- Deck 5 cabins under the casino and nightclub if you go to bed early.
Dining and activities
The main dining room is included, along with the World Fresh Marketplace buffet, the International Café, Princess Pizzeria, The Bar & Grill, Swirls ice cream and afternoon tea. Crab Shack runs as a pop-up in the Horizon Court. Extra-charge options include Crown Grill, Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, the Chef’s Table and Ultimate Balcony Dining.
Kids’ clubs cover ages 3 to 7 and 8 to 12 (The Lodge), with a teen space for 13 to 17 (Beach House). There is a casino, the Lotus Spa and a fitness center. Drinks, Wi-Fi and gratuities are extra unless you buy a Princess Plus or Premier package; our Princess line guide explains what each covers.
Sister ships
Coral Princess has one sister, Island Princess (2003), built to the same Panamax design. Island Princess also sails Voyage of the Glaciers in summer 2027, so if Coral’s dates don’t fit, the sister offers nearly the same ship on the same route.
