Celebrity Flora cruises: Celebrity's Galapagos ship explained

Celebrity Flora is a 100-guest, all-suite expedition ship built in 2019 for the Galapagos Islands, where it sails all year. Every cruise is 7 nights from Baltra, alternating an Inner Loop and an Outer Loop, and the fare covers meals, drinks, naturalist guides, tips and the national park fee. Book it for a comfortable Galapagos trip, not a big-ship cruise.

Book it if

  • You want a 7-night Galapagos cruise with naturalist guides from the Galapagos National Park on board.
  • You'd rather pay one fare that covers meals, drinks, tips and the park fee than add them up.
  • You want a 10- or 11-night package that adds hotel nights in Quito and the flights to the islands.

Skip it if

  • You're on a tight budget; in our October 2026 snapshot a Flora week cost many times a mainstream Caribbean week.
  • You want nightlife, a casino or a theater; Flora is built around the islands, not entertainment.
  • You want to avoid long flights; you fly to Quito first, and the Quito to Baltra flight has a one-bag limit.

Shipyard De Hoop in the Netherlands built Flora as Celebrity’s first purpose-built expedition ship. It was delivered in Rotterdam on May 13, 2019, christened at Baltra Island on June 24, 2019, by Yolanda Kakabadse, a former president of WWF, and made its first Galapagos cruise on June 30, 2019. Celebrity lists 100 guests, 5,922 tons and a length of 333 feet.

Under Galapagos rules the ship is flagged in Ecuador and crewed by Ecuadorians, with about 80 crew. Its 100 guests stay in 50 suites over six decks. Wikipedia describes it as the largest ship by tonnage sailing in the islands.

What is a Celebrity Flora cruise like?

A Celebrity Flora cruise is a 7-night expedition, not a resort cruise. You fly to Baltra, board a 100-guest ship and spend each day ashore or in the water with naturalists certified by the Galapagos National Park, one for about every 12 guests. Entertainment on board is mostly the naturalists’ talks, not shows.

The ship is designed to keep the islands in view. Every suite faces outward, and Celebrity has said the design takes cues from its Edge-class ships. A dynamic positioning system holds the ship in place without dropping anchor, which protects the seabed, and solar panels add some of its power. Celebrity also supplies snorkeling gear, wetsuits, walking sticks and binoculars for the week.

Where does Celebrity Flora sail in 2026–2027?

Only the Galapagos. Flora is based at Baltra all year and sails 7-night cruises that alternate week by week between an Inner Loop and an Outer Loop, so two weeks in a row cover two different routes. In our October 2026 snapshot, sailings are on sale from December 2026 through 2028.

Celebrity also sells the cruise as a package. The 10- and 11-night packages add two hotel nights in Quito before the cruise, the flights between Quito and Baltra, and one or two hotel nights in Quito afterward. A 16-night package adds Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu in Peru after the cruise. Flights from the United States to Ecuador are extra in every case.

What does a Celebrity Flora cruise include?

A 7-night Flora cruise includes your suite, all meals, drinks on board (select wines, sparkling wine, spirits, soft drinks, coffee and tea), lectures by the naturalists, snorkeling equipment, gratuities for the crew and the naturalist guides, the Galapagos National Park admission fee, and transfers between Baltra airport and the ship.

What it leaves out: flights to Ecuador and to the islands (unless you buy a package), spa treatments, phone and internet charges, laundry beyond what your suite includes, and anything you buy ashore. That is close to all-inclusive, which matters when you compare fares. Our all-inclusive cruise guide explains how other lines count it.

Who it suits

First-time Galapagos visitors. The fare covers the parts that are hard to arrange yourself: guides, park fees and island transfers.

Couples and families with older children. Days are active, with guided walks and snorkeling, and the ship is small enough to feel like a group trip.

Celebrity loyalists. You get Celebrity’s service and suite standards in a place its big ships can’t go. Our Celebrity review covers the rest of the line.

Who should look elsewhere: travelers on a budget and anyone who wants shipboard entertainment. For other small-ship expedition lines, see our luxury and small-ship cruise picks.

Celebrity Flora suites: which to pick

Every cabin on Flora is a suite, and every suite has a veranda of some kind. Celebrity lists these types:

  • Penthouse Suites, the largest in the islands, up to 1,288 square feet in total.
  • Royal Suites, 559 square feet with a separate living area and bedroom.
  • Ultimate Sky Suite with Infinite Veranda, 365 square feet.
  • Premium Sky Suites with Infinite Veranda, which add an outward-facing spa tub and shower.
  • Sky Suites with Infinite Veranda, which turn the room into an open-air space at the touch of a button.
  • Sky Suites with Veranda, 330 square feet including a separate 84-square-foot balcony.

Pick a Sky Suite with Veranda if you want a classic balcony to sit out on. Pick an Infinite Veranda if you would rather have more indoor space with a window that opens fully. The Penthouse and Royal Suites add premium bathrobes and more room, and suit families who want to share. All suites get a suite attendant, in-suite dining, a stocked minibar with soft drinks and beer, marine binoculars and laundry twice per cruise.

Getting to Celebrity Flora

Fly to Quito, then to Baltra. Celebrity’s packages include the Quito to Baltra flight. Those flights allow one checked bag of up to 23 kg (50 lb) and one small carry-on of up to 10 kg (22 lb), so pack light.

Bring a passport valid for six months. Ecuador requires at least six months’ validity from the date you leave the country.

Sister ships

Flora has no sister in Celebrity’s fleet. Shipyard De Hoop built a second ship on the same contract option, Silver Origin, for Silversea, another Royal Caribbean Group line. Celebrity’s older Galapagos ship Xpedition was sold in 2025 and now sails as National Geographic Gemini for Lindblad Expeditions.
