Tauck riverboats
Tauck’s fleet is small, and counts differ by source. Cruise Passenger’s guide lists nine boats: Andorinha, Emerald, Esprit, Grace, Inspire, Joy, Sapphire, Savor and Treasures. Its fleet article also names ms Serene. Tauck’s own fleet page wasn’t readable when we checked, so confirm the boat on your departure.
- ms Treasures and ms JoyTauck pictures Treasures on the Danube, and Joy runs Danube departures in 2027.
- ms AndorinhaRuns the Exploring the Douro departures in 2027.
- ms SereneThe Seine boat, and the sister of the new Reverie.
- ms ReverieHas 62 rooms, and 80% measure 225 square feet or more.
- ms SaudadeHas 42 rooms, including 12 suites of 300 square feet, and 43 crew.
Cruise Passenger calls the two 2027 boats Tauck’s largest fleet expansion. It spells the Douro boat both Saudade and Suadade.
What does a Tauck river cruise include?
Tauck’s upfront price covers all shore excursions, meals, drinks all day including house wine, beer and premium spirits, tips for directors, crew, guides and luggage handling, admissions, entertainment, and arrival and departure transfers. Tauck says it sells no options on board.
- Gala evenings ashore: dinners and performances in notable venues.
- Land stays: some itineraries add hotel nights, in Tauck’s words at some of the finest hotels in Europe.
- Dining on board: Compass Rose is the main dining room and Arthur’s the casual one, both with open seating.
What to check: flights aren’t on Tauck’s list, so ask. Our all-inclusive cruise guide shows how this fare compares.
Are Tauck river cruises worth it?
Tauck river cruises are worth it if you’d pay for the excursions, drinks and tips anyway and you like a hosted program. That’s why it’s our all-inclusive pick. It’s weaker value if you drink little, skip tours or prefer free time, because all of that is in the price.
We haven’t sailed Tauck for this page, and we don’t publish scores here. Three things to weigh before you book:
- The pace. It’s a guided trip with Tauck Directors, so expect a program.
- The cabins. River Cruise Advisor calls them comfortable but generally not oversized, so check the square footage of your category.
- The numbers. Tauck caps guests below each boat’s maximum capacity, River Cruise Advisor says.
Tauck cabins and suites
Tauck sells seven cabin categories, from entry staterooms to suites. There are no outdoor balconies, and more than 80% of cabins have French balconies. The top Category 7 suites measure over 27 square meters, about 290 square feet, with a seating area and two French balconies.
Category matters for solo travelers, so see the next section before you choose.
Is Tauck good for solo travelers and families?
Tauck is one of the better river choices for solo travelers on a Category 1 cabin. For 2026 it waives the single supplement on every Category 1 cabin on every river departure, more than 250 sailings, and cuts it by $1,000 on some other categories on select European departures (checked November 2026).
We found no confirmed 2027 waiver, so ask before you book a 2027 date. Our solo cruise guide covers the wider field.
For families, Tauck sells Family River Cruises under its Tauck Bridges banner, including Blue Danube: Family Riverboat Adventure. Departures add family activities, and Cruise Passenger cites a Louvre scavenger hunt and riverside cycling. Our family cruise guide compares ocean options.
Where does Tauck sail?
Tauck sails Europe. Its river pages list the Danube, Rhine, Rhone, Seine, Douro and the Belgian and Dutch waterways, plus Christmas market cruises. For 2027, Cruise Passenger reports new Essence of the Seine, Essence of the Douro, Porto Prelude and Essence of the Danube departures in March, April, October or November, so the shoulder seasons are getting more choice.
Our European river cruise guide covers which river to pick.
How Tauck compares
- Against Viking: Viking has more boats and routes and includes an excursion in each port, but you still add tips, drinks and extra tours to its fare. Our Viking review sets the two side by side.
- Against AmaWaterways: AmaWaterways includes wine and beer with meals, excursions and Wi-Fi, not drinks all day.
- Against Avalon: Avalon Waterways wins on the standard cabin, a 200-square-foot suite.
- Against Uniworld: Uniworld also includes drinks all day and tips, on more decorated ships.
- Our ranking: Tauck is the all-inclusive pick in our best river cruise lines ranking.
Tauck prices
Our price snapshot covers sailings sold on CruiseBound, and Tauck isn’t in it, so this page shows no from-price. Two checks help when you compare:
- Compare the full bill. Add tips, drinks and extra tours to the other line’s fare.
- Price your exact category. The solo waiver covers Category 1 only.
